Golden Hour - Cow moose and Calf

I was over the moon after taking a photo during the golden hour of a majestic cow moose and her adorable calf in Grand Teton National Park. The soft, warm sunlight bathed the pair in a golden glow, highlighting every detail of their intricate fur and graceful features making it truly a once-in-a-lifetime sight to behold. As they peacefully grazed together, I couldn't help but feel privileged to witness such a beautiful display of wildlife in their natural habitat. This photograph will forever hold a special place in my heart, serving as a reminder of nature's incredible beauty and the importance of preserving these precious moments for future generations to enjoy.

Bull MOOSE - GRAND TETON National Park

Bull moose are unpredictable and can be aggressive. This moose charged a group of wildlife photographers who got really close and were in the direction the moose was heading towards. In this instance, the moose lowered its head and charged but didn't use its full force, sparing the photographers from serious injury. Along with photography skills, it is important to learn animal behavior.

As the sun begins to dip below the horizon, a magnificent bull moose stands proudly. My heart races with excitement at being able to witness such a scene in all its wild splendor just before dusk. The massive antlers of the bull glisten in the fading light, contrasting beautifully against his dark, muscular form. The two cows graze peacefully nearby, their graceful movements mesmerizing to behold. Their coats are sleek and deep brown, blending seamlessly with the earthy tones of their surroundings.

Moose Calf - Glacier National Park

After a grueling day-long hike in the pouring rain at Glacier National Park, the sight of a cow moose and her precious calf snuggled together in the bush is like stumbling upon a hidden treasure. The bond between mother and baby is palpable as they nuzzle against each other, seeking comfort and warmth. It's a magical moment that feels like a reward for pushing through the challenges of the day. It is such a heart warming scene watching them together, so peaceful and serene in their natural habitat.

Mule Deer - Male (buck)

Mule deer rutting season usually begins in mid-October and lasts through November. When bucks are in rut their necks swell from the effects of testosterone, increased blood flow and muscle mass. During this time, adult bucks will fight with each other and pursue mating opportunities with does. The wound by his eye looks like it will heal. Had his rival’s antlers gone in any closer to the eye, he probably would have lost the eye.

California Mule Deer - Female (Doe)

A female California mule deer stands majestically in the golden-hued meadow, her inquisitive gaze fixed on something in the distance. With ears perked and alert eyes sparkling with curiosity, she exudes grace and elegance as she cautiously approaches, her delicate footsteps barely making a sound on the lush grass beneath her hooves. Her coat glistens in the sunlight, showcasing shades of russet, cream, and ebony that blend seamlessly with the natural beauty surrounding her.

Cow Moose - Denali National Park

A cow moose in Denali National Park is stressed because hikers keep getting too close to her calf! My backpack had a whistle and I was able to alert the hikers as the cow moose was about to charge. Denali National Park is such a beautiful place, but it's important for us humans to remember that we are just visitors in the moose's home. Let's make sure we give these majestic creatures the space and respect they deserve so they can thrive peacefully in their natural habitat.

ELK - Wapiti

The elder bulls compete for dominance during the rut. When other bulls approach their harem, bulls bugle and provide warnings to keep away. Older and weaker bulls are moved away from the herd. In an attempt to draw cows, this weaker bull persisted in bugling, but maintained its distance from the victor. A younger and stronger bull took his place.
